Safer Together

Safer Together is the brain child of the Red River Cultural District working together with Austin’s District Attorney, José Garza. They wanted to create a new one-day, multi-venue music benefit concert series, that would feature multiple iconic venues in the 7th street district. I was lucky enough to be chosen to create the branding for this event.

Each Safer Together concert was free to attend, although each venue also collected donations at the door with 100% of proceeds raised being donated to SIMS, whose mission is to help reduce substance use issues while supporting and enhancing the wellbeing of the music community at large. Safer Together was, in fact, originally created to raise awareness and funds for SIMS and its substance abuse programs following a massive surge in overdose deaths in the greater Austin area

The multi-venue concert series featured ten different music performances across three locally owned-and-operated music venues found within the RRCD including Mohawk, The Green Jay, and Empire Control Room. As the Travis County DA Jose Garza offered opening remarks before the first show began, music performers later that night included Blackillac, Otis the Destroyer, and Billy King and the Bad Bad Bad, among several other talented local acts.
